About Us
Mission:
Canada’s Arabic Theatre was established to celebrate and contribute to Canada’s vibrant cultural landscape by showcasing classical, modern, and emerging works from Arab and Arab Canadian and Arabic speaking playwrights. We aim to support Canadian artists in mastering their craft, strengthening the theater arts, and fostering meaningful cultural exchange and appreciation among Canadian audiences.
Vision:
Our vision is to create a vibrant Arabic theater scene in Canada that celebrates Arabic-themed stories and showcases the richness of Arabic culture. We aim to nurture local talent, enrich the theater landscape, and foster meaningful connections between artists and audiences. The goal is to build a space where everyone feels included, respected, and engaged in celebrating Arabic-themed stories within the wider Canadian arts community, contributing to the nation’s cultural fabric.
Goals:
- Supporting Arab Canadian Playwrights, Directors, and Actors: We aim to provide emerging and established Arab Canadian artists with opportunities to showcase their talents and enhance their skills. By actively promoting their works and creating a supportive platform, we contribute to the growth and recognition of Arabic theater professionals in Canada.
- Community and Collaboration: We strive to foster a sense of community and collaboration among theater artists, professionals, and other members of the local arts community. Through partnerships, workshops, and networking events, we aim to create an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages artistic exchange and mutual growth.
- Performing Arts Center for Youth: We envision the establishment of a performing arts center that focuses on youth, promoting and preserving the heritage of Arabic culture. This center will serve as a nurturing space for young artists to explore their creative potential and contribute to the vibrant theater scene in Canada.
- Creating Work Opportunities: We aim to create work opportunities for both Arabic and non-Arabic speaking artists, technicians, and other supporting trades to become actively involved in our initiatives. By fostering diverse collaboration, we promote inclusivity and ensure the sustainable growth of our theater programs.
